Some Aussie Classics

Sadly, back in the 70's and 80's, even in the 60's when you think about it, Australia never really got the recognition it deserved except for some notable artists such as AC/DC, Crowded House, INXS etc, but even then, many artists were not well known out of Australia which is sad, in a way, because music in Australia is unique and great to listen to.

Here are just a few artists that I really enjoy that many people may not even have heard about before:

This song titled 'Hearts And Flowers' was a song released by the Brisbane band, The Riptides, in 1982. The lead singer, Mark Callaghan, would later go on to be the lead singer for another Australian band, Gangajang. Sadly, this band was short lived and called it a day in 1984, but they will forever live on with this song.

This song titled 'Solid Rock' was a song released by Goanna, who were also originally known as The Goanna Band but shortened it later, in 1982. The band is also known for some other songs but this is their most famous one, being famous almost, sadly, exclusively to Australia.

This song titled 'One Perfect Day' by Little Heroes was released in 1982. Little Heroes became known after they won a local battle of the bands in their area. They then released this as a single and it was popular in Australia, but sadly, again, not internationally.

I shall post some more songs later. Hope you enjoyed them. :)

  1. These are all pretty awesome songs! And you are right, Australia never got the recognition it deserved, I mean hello Easybeats? Another great example of one of Australia's finest!

    Enjoyed your post Will!

  2. Easybeats, to be fair, did get one international hit but it didn't even reach number 1 in the UK (I think it was in the top 10), with their song 'Friday On My Mind'. Still, they too didn't get the recognition they so rightfully deserved because their music was great. It was, in some ways, Australia's answer to The Beatles.

I'm glad you enjoyed my post as well. :)
