I wanted to focus on some intelligent electro-pop of the present times. It seems there isn't much of it around but there is if you look further than the top 40.
A band that I've come to appreciate alot more since my love of synth is Interpol. This song is especially haunting.

This is my favourite song by British electro princess Little Boots.
I've recently come to appreciate Animal Collective. Though this song Ma Gurrrrrlz is their big hit, I don't feel cliched for loving it, because it really is a masterpiece.
This next one is my favourite song lately. Brilliant band, really refreshing sound.
I consider Mystery Jets to be the most unique act of the present times. This is the band that dragged me out of my elite-ist mod snobbery and made me once again open to being broad in my taste, loving beat groups, post punk, electro, rocknroll etc, dually. A brilliant 80s post-punk synth sound, and at the same time, they're dually influened by 60s artists such as Syd Barrett. And who else has their dad in their band? Snaps to Blaine Harrison. Big love for Mystery Jets.
One of Australia's best bands out nowadays, Red Riders, who come from Sydney. Totally under-rated Cure-esque dreamy electronica.
Don't Be On With Her, great first single from Melbourne DJ Miami Horror.

Ahhh wow finally someone that can appreciate Interpol's work! I really love them! I saw them live in Amsterdam in 2005, and they were truly amazing! The Heinrich Maneuver is definitely one of their bests!
ReplyDeleteThe little boots stuff is catchy too btw.
Love this
